Nissan e.Dams Announces Albon as Buemi’s partner in Formula E

Anglo-Thai Alexander Albon will be a driver for Nissan next season in Formula E, being Sebastien Buemi’s team-mate on the team that will replace Renault in the all-electric series. The announcement was made on Thursday morning (20) and he will replace Nicolas Prost.
Nissan’s Formula E program will showcase a new “performance side” of Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility – the company’s vision to change how cars will be propelled, driven and integrated into society. Albon had already tested the car at the January Rookie Test in Marrakech and had competition from Andrea Pizzitola and British Mardenborough. Nissan decided to enter Formula One after Renault chose to concentrate its efforts on Formula 1, and the brand bought a “non-major” position in eDams.

Albon, 22, will be in Formula E with Nissan after an impressive performance in single-member categories for beginners. He finished second in the GP3 series in 2016 and holds third place in points in the FIA Formula 2 championship with three wins.

Nissan will debut in the first race of the fifth season of Formula E, to be held on December 15 this year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The following events will take place in Marrakesh (Morocco), Mexico City, Hong Kong, Sanya (China), Rome (Italy), Paris (France), Monte Carlo (Monaco) and New York (USA). The places of the tests of January 26 and June 9, 2019 have not yet been confirmed.
