Robin Frijns can return to Formula E by joining Sam Bird at Virgin Racing in the 2018-2019 season.
Replacing Alex Lynn in the British team, Frijns can make a return to the category. Currently, the Audi factory pilot is the favorite to join the Virgin team.
In addition, the team must become a customer of the German manufacturer’s powertrain, with the expected confirmation coming soon. Frijns competed in the DTM and the Blancpain GT Series this season, and is currently in 15th place in the Audi Sport ABT Sportsline.
Meanwhile, Sylvain Filippi – managing director of Virgin – said the team’s driver training will likely not be released until October.
“We have plenty of time to confirm things with the drivers and put things in place. We are in a good position and totally in charge of our own destiny, “said Filippi recently.
Nico Mueller and Nyck de Vries, both tested with Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler – at the Rookie Test in Marrakesh last January – are also being considered for a place in the FA, according to the publication ‘E-racing365’.
