This title in teams is the outcome of four years of success for the Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler in Formula E.
After finishing third (once) and second (twice) in previous seasons, the excellent performance of Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt in the recent races of New York allowed the feat to reverse a distance of 33 points in a single grand prize.
The Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler team arrived at the final race of the season, celebrated in the Brooklyn circuit, with some chances of victory in teams. For that, it was essential to achieve a great result in the first of two races of the weekend, that allowed to revert a distance of 33 points.
And the result has arrived. Di Grassi and Abt finished in first and second places, reducing the distance to the Techeetah team to only five points.
There were just 43 laps ahead of the Manhattan Skyline to decide who would be the new winner of the team classification. Jean-Éric Vergne (Techeetah team) had been crowned Lucas di Grassi’s successor driver in the drivers’ classification the day before, but he needed to resolve the battle for the team’s crown between Techeetah and Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler.
The Audi e-tron FE04 is equipped with “made by Schaeffler” technology. Together with Audi, Schaeffler engineers have developed the heart of this single-engined car: the combination of engine and transmission. Schaeffler is the official technological partner of Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler in this innovative category of 100% electric racing.
