Which car rental company is the best in Australia?

My friend and I are planning to travel in SE Australia, mainly Sydney, Melbourne, Victoria… We would like to rent a car picking up and returning in Sydney. Would you share your experience, which car rental company provided the most economic rental pack with good service?

There is a lot to see between Sydney and Melbourne if you have the time to explore.

There is a car rental comparison site called oodles that should help with rates http://oodles.com.au/.

You get good rates on a longer term lease. All the biggies should let you do a one way trip.

You can also get a ferry across to Tasmania and drive around there as well.

Either Budget or Thrifty are very good
I’ve tried both and both good service but Thrifty is cheaper

If I were you I would hire a budget hire car for Sydney, then catch a flight by Virgin to Melbourne, then hire another vehicle. Between Melbourne and Sydney there is not that much to see, and it takes about seven hours

DOn’t forget to check with your credit card company or other orgs that you are a member of as they often have deals with car hire companies for a % discount.
