I would try and avoid Hertz, as they almost always have the highest rates in NYC.

Dollar and Budget are always the lowest prices here.

Keep in mind that rentals can be significantly lower if you do your pick up/drop off at the area airports instead of in Manhanttan.

Enterprise has won the JD Power customer satisfaction survey among rental companies for most of the years that the survey has existed. If you're from out of the US that may not mean much; but among those in auto related consumer business in the U.S. it does.

Try enterprise, then avis (they have great sports cars) and then you can get anybody.
